Ukraine’s energy sector faces significant challenges, with extensive damage to infrastructure and an urgent need for sustainable, long-term solutions. InnovateUkraine is a UK-funded innovation competition designed to direct support towards the businesses and organisations developing low-carbon technologies for the country’s energy recovery. By funding innovation, the programme aims to strengthen energy resilience, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and promote sustainable economic growth.
Led by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) under the Ayrton Fund, InnovateUkraine funds new and advanced energy technologies that can help restore and modernise Ukraine’s energy system. The initiative connects technical experts, academics, and entrepreneurs from Ukraine,the UK and other countries to develop and deploy scalable solutions with long-term impact.

Eligible projects should have total costs between £50,000 and £2 million, begin on or after 1 December 2025, and complete by 31 December 2027. Each project must include at least one partner with a legal entity in Ukraine and a UK-registered administrative lead.
